The national makeover is not a frivolous project. It is not even economic makework, a fine enough thing when done right. It is actually a critical aspect of the next regime’s security. It creates a gap between old and new which no one with eyes can deny.
~Curtis Yarvin
The other day I was remarking how I basically have the politics of Curtis Yarvin but want to spend my days in an occupation that more resembles hosting The View. My pitch was a show where the takes are hot and the mimosas are cold. My politics basically come down to poasting edge while enjoying intoxicants and sweet treats with the peanut gallery of potty-mouthed ladies and witty homosexuals while normies do email or whatever.
Many of my esteemed colleagues always complain how we live in The Longhouse but sometimes I think about the Victorian Era and what it was like. It seems a little effeminate from the future but, if I know myself, I probably would have been trying to spend my days drinking gin and gossiping with the ladies on cool couches. Factories and gruel are not for me.
Funnily enough, I wrote a piece awhile back that basically asks the question, if you could take the over-educated PMC’s who make our lives such hell with their onslaught of infographics, tone-policing, and epidemiology and then give them a generous budget to turn themselves into humans that more closely resemble Martha Stewart/Ina Garten or Sting/Jason Statham, basically guys and girls who are accomplished in cool party tricks like making beef wellington or doing tantric sex—what kind of world would we live in?
What if, instead of online shopping and shooting Ozempic, they’d demonstrate they’re actually our betters, bossing around assistants and closing deals while doing handstands in the courtyard? What if they were even 10-20% more developed in the areas of life that don’t require quarterly reviews and KPI’s, in disciplines like opera and hospitality that mature across decades?
Readers will note, I open the piece of which I speak with a quote from the dark lord of home renovation, Curtis Yarvin, himself. In my brain, being based and doing based things is all the same thing. I just want to garden.
Self interest
It’s true: Everyone is always trying to turn their own personal brand, their kinks, aesthetics, and psychodramas into political causes. I am no better. I have been radio-silent for the last couple weeks of the year, having nothing to say because I have been out in the world doing things, by which I mean, supervising menial workers and trying not to commit human rights violations that can be prosecuted in the American judicial system.
I didn’t set out to be a petty monarch but, like anyone pushing into uncivilized territories, I have encountered a few issues which are better resolved through the unmistakable will of an executive unrestricted by committee or red tape.
Like Colonel Kurtz and many of my Ashkenazi brothers (does he have an early life?), I was not blessed with anything resembling mechanical ability and have next-to-no hand-eye coordination but, after a little trial and error, it turns out I’m not so bad at this design stuff. So I’ve been making moves, overseeing projects, beautifying my house, and gentrifying my neighborhood. Wandering Jews: Some settle Syria, others San Antonio.
Eyes are up here
The other thing here is porn. Not sex but private revelations. I will give a tease for free but, if you want to see the goods: stained glass, tiled walkway, exotic plants, mosaic stepping stones, and cat menagerie, you’re going to have to give me the loot. I am not always perfect but I have my mercantile ethics and do not want to upset my ancestors.
That’s right. If you want to get in on the next wave of American aesthetics, you’re going to have to pay. While it’s true that my general subscriber base skews male, my paid subscriber base is about one third female, a fact I take pride in, fully acknowledging that women are the arbiters of taste and talent, and if they are paying to read or hear your takes, it’s a sign you’re doing something right. Just because I’m a guy, doesn’t mean I only know guy stuff. Just because I’m not a feminist doesn’t mean I’m not for the ladies.
If you are a paying member, this is where you get to see the goods and get some of my philosophy on design.
