Really interesting to see the different strategies people, but especially artistically-minded men, take to confront deep pain. The common denominator seems to be some combination of working out intensely + helping others through, e.g., mentoring + weirdly ambitious craft projects + personal expression (e.g., journaling) that remains largely private.
