Typically, Vanity is unattractive in men and neutral in women(in straight contexts). He didn’t post abs, he posted abs in context of 12 week long self obsession. Would he post having abs accidentally, by preparing for a rowing competition- responses would have been totally different.

I don’t think it’s necessarily about the lifting. It think it’s more nuanced like bodybuilding is not going to attract the same time of person/woman as kettlebell sport or CrossFit. I think the demo of who does CrossFit, for instance, has changed over 20 years so there’s also a temporal dimension.
But here’s my quick and dirty answer:
If you are a powerlifter or bodybuilding female/physique competitor I would bet that you would skew more to the right than you would if you did not participate but that doesn’t necessarily mean you would be a republican, just more right than you would have been. I find that many large and or strong people who play in these sports are usually pretty libertarian. They are highly agentic so it makes sense.
If you are into Pilates, yoga, capoeira, you will skew more to the left as these make a tasty cocktail of UMC white affinity groups with exoticism and third worldism.
need to ask my sister in law, who is a pro bodybuilder (& lib) what she's noticed in this regard. think this also has a lot to do with the gym population where I live (incredibly blue)
No one who wears itty bitty underwear on stage is going to be a dyed in the wool conservative all the way for obvious reasons so I’m interested to hear back. Plus there’s the illicit substances thing. I feel like they are gun + drug people typically so I am hedging with libertarian but I have also lived in places like Fl, TX, NJ, BK.
